winch on secondary batt posts?
I'm not sure I understand this thread...
But then I'm old.
On my Jeep the factory set up has the main posts with the big fat cables to the vehical and then there is right next to the main fat posts some nutted smaller posts that are actually part of the main post connector. They sit to the side and are convenient and don't interfere with the main battery connection.
But to me they LOOK like they go to the main battery connection same as the big fat cables do too. They are just ( I thought ) a provided sort of external hook up for extras. Like air and trail lights and winches...
IF you can't hook up there where the hell else can you?
Anyway I run a power take off quick connect thru those that I use for both my air compressor and my winch (8000 lb). My trail lights are on there as well.
No problems so far.
Now this is with the stock battery.
I've not seen any need for any other battery as yet.
Out here in Arizona down in the valley of the sun I always switch out batteries every two years regardless. The heat will kill them suddenly with little or no warning. so by the beginning of '09 She will get a new one. but why some fancy weird assed thing with prongs sticking out of it in strange places? Underwater marine battery? Vacume?
Straight up maxed out cold cranking amp battery and switch 'em out every 2 years and bah humbug to the rest...
LOL
Have fun out there is an EXCELLENT advertisement!
Just remember to make it back...

LinkSync, after looking under my hood again you are absolutely right, the extra posts are attached to the main hookups, so this is a moot point. The problems discussed are only applicable to actual SIDE posts.
Thanks everybody anyways for the discussion.
