Default Winch solenoid issue?

I just installed my new winch and something isn't right. It will power out with no issues, but when I try to power in it won't cooperate.

I can hear the solenoid click when I press the rocker switch to "IN" , and if I bang on the top of the solenoid box it will power in every now and then.

I have not stretched the cable yet but don't know if that would have anything to do with it. I don't want to pull out all of the cable to stretch it and then be stuck not being able to wind it back on to the spool.

Any ideas?

Banging on the front of the solenoid instead of the top seemed to do the trick. It works great now.

In that case you should be golden... I would probably trust it with my life now. I would still probably have it replaced if I were you... in my opinion, a winch is one of those things that you REALLY do not want to fail when you need it.
