Default Winch suggestion

Ok I decided on brand for winch. Smittybuilt XRC comp. I have a jeep wrangler 2 door on 35s. Soon 37s. What does everyone suggest. 8000 or 10000? This would be my first winch so not sure what I really need. I go rock crawling here in Arizona. Do I need to give any other info? I have a poison spyder brawler light front bumper so it will fit either.

I was thinking synthetic line. Out on the trails I see more people with the synthetic then I do the cable.

8,000 is good enough. I would do steel if you'll be finding yourself/others getting stuck in situations where the cable will rub against rocks and other objects.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but how well do the steel lines hold up near the coasts with the salt water? Down where I live, it's a never ending battle trying to keep things from rusting. I imagine you guys that's live up north deal with it when there is salt on the roads.

Synthetic is safer, lighter and much easier to work with. And most synthetic lines come with a Kevlar shield that can be slid along its length to protect from abrasion. Go with synthetic.

Agrred

I went with synthetic for the simple reason that it's failure mode doesn't involve decapitation... not getting decapitated is good, right

X2 - for the price, I got the 10K on my 2dr.

I went with the Smittybilt Comp‐Series XRC 10 with synthetis line for that reason and I hate wire splinters and kinks

I got another tip from a guy in my jeep club for synthetic line protection. Carry a piece of slit harden hose in 6 or 8 ft to put the line in over a abrasive obstacle.
