Did that happen at the shop? theft from vehicle? what happened? I'd be pi$$ed..

Not just the tint laws, all the motor vehicle laws. Once you cross the state lines you are subject to enforcement efforts. But, VA's tint laws changed as of July 1.

IDK i was in the waiting room. I suspect he heated it up too much and put a lot of pressure on it putting it down or he shut the gate first and put it down or he hit it with the heater/or some other tool
