Default Windshield header/channel needed for new soft top?

I've got an '09 4 door Wrangler. I bought it with both the hard and soft top. I'm replacing the soft top with either a Smittybilt or Rampage bowless top. Do I need a windshield header/channel with this new top or is it fine since the Jeep came with a factory soft top?

You will either need a new Header or sacrifice your soft top to reuse it with the Smittybilt top.

The Rampage requires use of the cheap metal header.

Thanks. I plan on ditching the factory soft top anyway. I can't get the filth off of it and the zippers are all messed up.

And would I just tear something out of the old top to reuse?

The instructions give pretty good details on how to do it, but basically it's completely remove the OEM header from the top, and then remove the arms from the headers.
