Default winter tires and wheels recomondations

currently running km2 35 with 17 by 8 rims with 4.5 backspacing. I would like to get a second set for snow and ice only. i still have my stock tires and wheels , to small ror my lift 3.5. probably would like to run a black cast or steel rim ? with a softer tire 33 -35 inches ? width? less than 12.5, studded ?

i have run my toyo open country mt's on snow and ice and thought they worked very well. however, if you are looking for more bite, i would recommend the toyo open country at's as they have more sipes in the lugs. the procomp extreme at's work well as well

For snow and ice (assuming plowed roads so mostly ice and packed snow) any quality A/T would be a good base, then get them siped. On the west coast we can run it down to a local Les Schwab store and have it done cheap. The sipping will increase the amount of bitting surfaces on the already plentiful A/T and make it fit beautifuly into a winter driving tire. Just be careful as not all tire brands wil honor a warranty if you have them siped.
