wrangler duratracs
I have had my 285/70-17 Duratrac's for 40k now, just starting to get a little louder on the freeway. No balancing issues whatsoever, have done some moderate off-roading with no sidewall issues. Having owned various sets of BFG A/Ts , these are better overall esp in snow and rain. I figure another 5k+ to go on them, I'm 90% on pavement. I will be getting them again.
Got about 8K on mine. They are my fall/winter snow/rain tires. Had them in the mud a bunch of times and no problems with traction.
Quiet on road and handle well. No balancing issues with them either. Will buy again when these wear out. Very happy with all aspects of these tires.

I wouldnt pay $100 bucks for all 4. Dont get me wrong they wear awesome and do great in snow and ice, but as they wore(after about 15-16000 miles) they became increasing loud. Rotated every 4-5k and at 20k they sounded like a huey helipcopter coming down the road. Ppl could hear it for 3 blocks away and being inside was a massive headache. That said they never let us down and after about 28k they still had 70-80% tread life. If you want cool looking great wear and good offroad and love tire noise get em

I have 315/70R17 Duratracs on Rugged Ridge satin black wheels. They have about 10K miles on them, and no issues whatsoever. I live in MA, so the primary motivation for my selection was the reports for snow and ice performance. I have been very impressed so far. We have had lots of snow this winter and these tires have performed exceptionally well. I often don't plow my driveway and have no problem getting up the 20 degree slop and through the street plows 3' or more pile at the end of the driveway.
On the balancing front my tire shop used Equal Tire Balancer (just Google it), and I have had zero issues. No weights at all. I am just now on my 2nd 5-tire rotation and no vibration at all. I was initially concerned about the Equal performance in cold weather. Some say to put some antifreeze in with the beads in colder climates - something I would rather avoid. When the Jeep sits for a few days in the cold I think there is a slight difference in the feel of the tire as it warms up some, but nothing I am at all conscious of in general.
My only wish is that they made 37" tires.
I have a 4" lift, re-geared (to 4.88) and installed a Supercharger (Ripp), so 37"s are on my next tire upgrade list.
BTW: My tire shop was surprised I wanted a 5-tire rotation. Don't you guys use your 'spare'?
I look at this as giving me an extra 20% tire life from the set.

And to keep on topic.. I just ordered 275/70/18 duratrac's yesterday and get them on next Friday. I can't wait!!!! I got a really great price ordering directly from Goodyear online and theres no shipping to pay since I'm having them installed from a Goodyear service center close by. Now I just need to get my spacers and leveling kit.
