Wrinkle Paint
I need help. Does anyone know how to use/do wrinkle paint? Any suggestions on the right/best kind to buy? Someone rear ended me at a stop sign and I'd like to refinish this XRC bumper like it was when I got it. Evidently the local shop doesn't know how to do this finish. Can't be rocket science, right? The accident did virtually no damage to the bumper (except paint) and really hurt the other cars feelings (i.e. their front end was completely destroyed). Many thanks for any help!
I have the SRC bumpers (front and back). Little different style but same finish. Both came with a little blemish here and there.....result of shpping and damaged packaging. I used bedliner from a rattle can and it matched perfectly. Both in color and texture. I also used it to spray the parts of my frame that were exposed after I insalled the front bumper.
Good luck........mabey the car that hit you can use a little bedliner too.......lol

Rustoleum sells wrinkle paints with the "hammered look" and some other types, and they all work well. You just use them like a normal spray paint and they set up the way the cap feels. (it has the texture molded in)
rmdchewie is correct. That is a textured, matte powder-coating. Unfortunately none of the aerosol products out there are going to match perfectly with the OEM finish (color or texture). There are likely to be some local industrial paint facilities in your area (I googled powder coating germantown, md and got numerous hits. you could inquire with any of them for refinish options or you could bedline it as rmdchewie and Robin suggest. the bedliner would be tougher, but would add weight too. I lie the bedliner idea myself.
