I was referring to how it's held in place at the bracket on the driver's side....where the handle would typically pass through the bracket and then turn to lock it in place. In the one picture above, it looks like a threaded bolt is passing through the bracket on the driver's side now, and held in place with a nut somehow?

No! I have not tried to adjust it. I definitely will though.
i still think it needs some sort of support over on the (handle) side.

Smittybilt - yes they are great. I could BUY a handle. If I can get this fixed with the piece of Delrin then I think I’ll be happy. No noise, no handle...

That is how you previously aligned those to get the handle to pass perfectly through the bracket. Also, have you considered calling smittybilt and seeing if they'd help you out with a new handle? Tell them you bought your jeep used with this bumper, and you really "love" the bumper and tires carrier, but the previous owner removed the handle for some reason. THey might just offer to send you one. They have pretty good customer service.

the swing away is attached (to the Jeep door) with the rugged ridge kit as I posted above. What you are looking at is just some piece of metal they used to make an “arm” of some sort to hit the stop that’s bolted onto the old bracket that the handle would have latched to. The bolts for the old handle were left in the swing away.
The stop was orange, I painted it black, put Velcro over that metal “arm” to keep that from squeaking.

you'd be surprised how much it will raise and lower with those bolts. tighten top bolt only to raise it. I suspect though, the real problem is the driver's side is not being held tight enough and that is what is creating the rattle? I'd say 50/50 shot they'd just send you a handle. They've sent me an entire new $850 bumper/carrier back in the day do to a simple problem, and I didn't even have proof of purchase. Just me though....I'd prefer to have the handle than that rigged up bolt.

Its not rigid bolt up.
It’s NOT attached to anything at the very end. There is no handle, it’s not bolted to the old latch. It’s attached to the rear door using the rugged ridge “swing away” kit I posted above. I just open the Jeep door and the tire carrier swings away. The rugged ridge kit is just 2 hiem joints and a rod. One hiem is welded to the tire carrier arm and the other is bolted to the Jeep rear door using their provided bracket. It works very well except for an occasional rattle when driving on back roads or a bump in the road.

Sorry, I see what you're describing now.....and why you're thinking a delrin block to help. Makes more sense.
