Default Xrc8

I just put a smitty bumper and xrc8 on my jku and this is my first winch.. Whenever I have it engaged and the cable gets any real tension on it it switches back to free spool.. Is there something wrong with my winch or something I can fix?
Thanks

Sound like something is wrong. If it's new, just call Smittybilt for the warranty. I've heard they are decent on warranty coverage.

If u ordered through quadratec they will send u a new one and all u gotta do is drop the old back off at ups. That's what happened too me. That vendor is so easy to deal with.

Keep me updated... I have the same winch and am having problems getting it to engage after free spool. Unfortunately, I'm sure I'm out of any warranty.

I'll keep y'all updated. I ordered it from a local shop so I'll call them first.

I talked to smitty and they are sending me a new handle with the locking mechanism. He said if that doesn't work they'll send me a new one.

I have a smittybuilt xrc8. Ur issue is not normal. The replacement parts may fix it. If not then get a new unit from them.

So the new part did not fix it.. I ended up just getting a new winch. The shop I got it from actually just exchanged it so that I didn't have to deal with the warranty stuff!
