Being a turbo it can be very easy to get more HP from a tuner. I would recommend keeping an eye on a reputable manufacturer to see if they have developed a tune yet for the 2.0T. Should be quite easy to get 60-80HP and 100lbs torque. Any more and you might be shortening the life of the engine. And will be cheap to do as the engine internals are already setup for forced induction. Add better turbo and downpipe and the tuner and voila you have a performer.

A friend had a rental JL Safari Turbo 4 for a month. He said that thing would pull hard up to 85mph merging on to a freeway. He said it ran on regular gas and was very impressed with it. He just purchased a new 2021 Ruby but actually went for the V6 with E-Torque due to on the lot deal. Just trying to say a lot of people think the 2.0 is the way to go. So modding yours might be as easy as getting higher gear ratio installed which leaves warranty intact.

Poesdad; Interesting reading here and they got a 2.0 up to 360lb ft of torque at the wheels.

Just wanted to rejuvenate this for thought for others contemplating a JL.

Acquaintance has a 2021 JL 2.0 Turbo. He runs appropriate lift and 40" tires on stock JL diffs regeared to 5.13. Just used stengthened front C's and chrome rear axles but he got the engine tuned to 350HP. It will spank the arse of any equivalent V6 now and does really good in the gas mileage dept given all the heavy tires etc. Don't poo poo the 4 banger as the turbo is the way of the future - look at all Broncos and now the Taco's coming out. For reliability friend also turned down the radiator temperature to 190F max and no detonation issues. All done with thermostat and part of the tune.
