Hey Milk - thanks for the PM, and sorry I didn't respond sooner.

As far as insurance goes, it's your age that's hurting you the most. I remember 5/10 years back when I was driving "sport(y) cars" and getting ripped off on insurance myself. Statistically speaking, a young man with a fast car is a very high risk driver... but once you get a little older and are married, you'll be shocked at how much of a reduction you'll see in your insurance! So hang in there.

How's everyone doing? I haven't been on the board much lately - anyone putting together any trail rides yet? Hope you're all doing well!

I'm doing all right here, haven't been around much either. Took a buzz up to bears den 2 Sundays ago on a last minute trail ride. I got up there and found D.E.P. closed all the trails. It really sucks because I've been wheeling there for 10 years and never had any problems. A couple of jeep clubs ruined it for everyone, I won't name names. One ran a charity ride and was selling maps of the state forests without the proper permits, a big no-no in Conn., and the other damage trees, wheeled off the trails, and trespassed on private property. That's what I was told my 3 jeeps that came out of there b4 I went in. They got busted, but the officer let them wheel in there after he gave them a ticket. They got lucky, $75 for the driver. He said the next time it'll $110 per person. It just goes to show you how someone messes it up for everyone.

That really sucks to hear. I got my Jeep right before i left for college so never wheeled in CT. Wheeled a bunch in New Mexico but now that im back ive been trying to find places to wheel and its impossible, even spent days off just driving round. From what i have found and learned from this forum is that the trails that are open cant be found online for the reason that Red Rubi just talked about, people disrespecting them

Why cant people just respect the trails

Ha, when I got the s2000 quote I asked amy to marry me. She told me to shut up... maybe I was reading the signals wrong My celica was considered a sports car too for some reason. I am leaning towards an econo box corrola and a project TJ or a Miata that I have wanted to build since my mother had her's supercharged Either way would be much cheaper on insurance and I could have a lot of fun.

Go buy a new 2 door pickup truck. Insurance will be great.... the dealerships will practically pay you to take it because of gas...

Then, mount an STS turbo on it

Any one want my wheels and tires? I am looking for a quick sale, all 5 say $600? I need a track suit for my bike Yes, I get into crazy crap and think I found my new addiction.

Just an FYI for anyone in CT who has tinted windows with a hard top. If you take your doors off, take the top off or open the back widow. While researching for tint for my mother I found this.

OTHER CONNECTICUT RULES AND REGULATIONS • Restricted Colors No colors of tint are explicitly banned. • Side Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted. • Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film need to certify the film they sell in the state. Ask your dealer if they are using ceritified film. • Sticker Requirements The sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on each tinted window.

I've never seen a sticker under any tint jobs but I've never been hassled and my celica had limo on the rear 3 windows. But I could see some of ct's finest pulling the doors off tinted rear window BS.

To add to this, there are some tint types that I've heard aren't particularly "legal"... like those "silver-tip" mirror tints that were so popular in the ghettos a few years back.

Realistically, the only time you're going to catch a ticket for tints is during an inspection situation: emissions, for instance, or while you were already pulled over for some other reason. And in the either case, I think they'd be much more eager to bust you for an illegal lift / wheels sticking out past fenders / etc., than for the tint itself.

But, as DMMilk said, some of CT's finest may choose to play hardball if you catch them in the wrong mood.
