X2 - Congrats on the new job! That'd be a heck of a commute, wouldn't it? Are you going to be a CT resident?

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but: We don't really have vehicle inspections in CT (at least, not the way that you'd find in MA or CA, to name a couple bad states for that)... so as long as you're not pulled over for something else, the chances are pretty low that you're going to be ticketed for a lift, etc.

Here I come to save the day!

I'm not 100% positive that this is a proper interpretation of the law, but it sounds plausible. If I'm reading this correctly, I guess my 35" tires (+1.5 inches to overall height) and 3" lift (+3 [more like 4!] inches to overall height) would be considered in violation? Good thing we don't have inspections!

Connecticut

Modifying the factory bumper height is OK, as long as you keep it at 30 inches from the ground, or lift the vehicle no more than 4 inches.

normally its been that we head up to western MA theres 2 spots up there, but i have heard from MJS of a place in CT that he knows of, Red Rubi knows a place pretty close to the Hartford area, my mother said she saw a jeep pulling out of the woulds somewhere up around Granby and my buddy from school was telling me about a spot about 1/2 hr -45min from me (west hartford) that sounded promising. i might be going this sunday to the spot my friend told me about to check it out.

Dan, being from the area you want to move to(2 miles from CLayton) i can certainly point out a couple test areas, not really offroad spots for meet but i know of a couple places to test the new tires and what not.

OUCH! Cheshire....better not go just 1 mile over the speed limit in that town! the cops ther are BRUTAL!!
if your bumper or lift height is a milometer from the law, trust me..the cheshire cops WILL find you!

Hi Sue - things are good, thanks. How 'bout you? I have some night pics in this thread (just go back a couple/few pages - can't miss 'em). I still have to install my CB, hopefully before Spring hits, and my skid plates. After that, I think it's time to switch from "mod" to "maintenance" mode, and replace a balljoint that's on its way out. It's always something!

Good luck with the land thing... CT is tiny, and unfortunately we're overdeveloping the crap out of it. You can still get land, but you should expect to pay a king's ransom for property near a metro area (read: jobs) that has more than the land the house is on.

But, it can be done. Depending on how big of a commute you want, you can buy east of the Connecticut River for relatively cheap.
