Talking End-of-Autumn, "Last Day of Jeepin' " before Winter run: 11/08/08

So, we all know that it's just a matter of time before that dreaded white stuff covers the land, including the trails we enjoy so much. I need to get my JK out on the trails one last time before Mother Nature puts a stop to it for Winter.... hence:

The Forum's Fall Foliage / New England November Nature Ride
Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Location TBD (Tolland is the default, unless someone is willing to lead the group up Westfield or another easy-to-moderate area)

Who wants to join me?

Mike aka 888

If my stock 2-dr is capable enough for the trails you're doing, I would definitely like to go! (Maybe I can even get some better tires before then!)

I suggested 11/8, but I'm hoping we can get some of the "usual" crew from the site to join us as well. I'm find leading through the trails up at Tolland, but I'd prefer to have the other guys there too. On a similar note, if we could get either of the Shadowmen to join with us, maybe they'd show us Westfield, which sounds slightly more challenging. I'll send PMs and see what happens.

For those of you questioning the difficulty of the trails, Tolland is pretty easy - it's more a leisurely crawl through the woods than a challenge... it's easily doable with a stock Jeep as long as you avoid some of the optional mud holes.

Westfield sounds a bit trickier, and I'll let someone who knows those trails weigh in as to difficulty. Stay tuned.

Westifled isn't overly difficult at all. It's narrow and can/will leave pinstripes in some places. There is a decent rock face to crawl up (or use the optional go around) and there is another rock face at the end where the top is. The problem with westfield is that the top can only fit a handful of Jeeps.

On the way down there can be a tricky spot where 1 might roll depending on the angle they take. Not super bad if you spot well.
