Default How much rust?

I got my 07 about 5 months back, it replaced a 1997 Toyota 4Runner that had major rust issues. I am a bit surprised, and sad, to see the amount of rust on the underside of the Jeep. It is mainly at the seams and welds in the frame, but the front axle components are also pretty rusted. I bought some Por-15 and plan to use that on the problem areas. How much rust do you guys have? Has anyone done any of the undercarriage coatings?

I get a mild amount of rust on my JK. Not too bad, but enough to make me consider my JK's longevity. I'm at 114K miles on my daily-driven '07.

The Body is almost perfect. Got some stone chips to handle. The underbody is excellent - never an issue. The suspension and axles are 'ok'. The frame is the worst, I think. Like you said, I mainly get it in the creases, joints, and welds. I usually end up hitting the frame and chassis parts with some spray paint once or twice a year.

It's really holding up quite well - but I'm concerned about areas I can't see or hit with a rattle can.

Mine is an 07 with 93k miles and it's rusted to hell.

I've since used por 15 and it's a lot better. The welds on my frame were pretty bad too.

I use Rustoleum Rust Converter and touch up underneath after every wheeling trip. It's a paint on with a brush product. And it's helped keep the underside in decent shape.

Is it rusting in spots you've scrapped offload? If not, I'd be asking the dealer for help.

You are right, I should give it try. The dealer is so lame that it seems better to do it myself.
