Default Light trails

Ok now that my wrangler X has more than 1200 miles (courtesy of 120 mi commutes), I'm curious to see how it does off road.

Can anybody recommend good public trails in the eastern MA/ northern RI area?

What about the beach? Is there a beach that we can drive on?

You're more than welcome to join us in Tolland this weekend, it's not eastern MA but from what I gather the trails get more far and few between the closer to go to Boston.

thanks guys,

would this be where I go for the cape cod permit?
http://www.nps.gov/caco/cape-cod-nat...ch-driving.htm

the tire requirement: 235-width for 16" wheels... looks like the dinky 225/75/16s wont pass - which is a good thing since I probably want wider tires for better sand flotation right?

im excited for some beach driving - this is gonna be fun!

Charlestown, RI. More info here: http://www.riparks.com/Info.htm#4-WD...%20Regulation:

Get in touch with TexsDream77, I know he has a beach permit down there. He can give you more detailed info, and I can vouch for the area, it is beautiful! https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/members/texsdream77-7398/

We're new to the east coast and have heard the wheeling in Cape Cod on the beaches is great. Can you camp on the beach too? Anyone have any pictures?

There is no legal wheeling on the Cape. Not on the sand, or offroading.
If you like to drive in sand to get to a spot to park and get some sun, there are numerous beaches you can buy a permit for, but I wouldn't call it wheeling. Check out this thread from last year for more discussion.
Don't get me wrong - it's a fun way to spend the day at the beach. Rather than park in a lot and lug all your stuff out to the beach, you drive until you find a spot, then lay claim for the day. Bring a grill, etc.
Sandy Neck in Barnstable has porta-potties, but last time I went to Race Point in P-town, they didn't. Most have air stations on the way out.
Most don't allow camping except in self-contained vehicles, but there are a few primitive campsites at Sandy Neck over the dunes and away from the water. I think you need to make reservations.
If you decide to try Sandy Neck, you'll usually find a bunch of jeeps on Friday nights. Just look for the bonfire.
