Maine Inspections
Well I am currently in Texas and will be HOME (Maine) eventually. I am looking to run 37 x 15s and I am worried about Maine's inspection laws for tire size. Do any of my fellow MAINEiacs have any experience with inspections on 37s or 35s? Will I be inspectable with either choice and what are you guys doing for fender flares for coverage? That is another inspection thing in Maine! :/ Stupid inspection BS!
Thank You!

Thank You!
Not in Maine and don't really know their rules/laws, but here in MA what my friends have done is keep the stock set of wheels and slap them on for inspection and once home throw back on the bigger set.
Sorry not much help otherwise tho...

That is unfortunately what I thought! I was hoping someone would say that they'd been inspected before with 37s, but it seems like that is unlikely, considering Maine's stupid laws! I did call a few places that do inspections back home and one said he didn't care about tire size and that he'd inspect it anyways with 37s and the other gave me a straight NO! So I'll probably stick with a 2.5" lift and 35s? Haha, less money involved and should be inspectable. Thanks for the two replies, I appreciate the feedback!
There are flair laws, I have found that if the tires are within an inch or two of the flair edge you will be alright. I mean the laws are state wide but it depends on the county and the place you go, and who you know etc.
I am wheeling with two guys who are state inspection station registered in two different counties (Oxford and Lincoln) and I can ask them if you like.
Come to think of it I should have failed with 35" coming from 32" OEM

I called a couple places in the Bangor area. Asked about bigger tires on Jeeps.
Both said 2 sizes bigger is OK. Any more, and you have to show proof the vehicle has been programmed for the bigger tires.
Neither one seemed to think bigger tires would be a problem beyond the calibration aspect of it.

Thanks a lot again guys! I am from Bangor, so if I can find one of these guys that will inspect me with the 35's or 37's that would be excellent! I guess if I got the 37's and used a procal then they'd be ok with it? Or are they saying a full regear is needed too? Also, will the Bushwackers or Stock fenders be enough coverage! Thats the other problem with the larger tires?! I really appreciate the help from my fellow Mainehs!
