Mass law regarding Tires and Fenders
Hey Everyone, did a search but came up with nothing so I'm asking.
Starting the process of new wheels and tires. I want to run 11.6" tires vs the stock 10" and wheels with the correct backspacing to avoid rubbing which will have my new tires sticking out past my stock fender flares. Does anyone know the law in Ma regarding this? Is anyone out there in Ma running tires outside of their flares and have you had any issues with the local law inforcement? Thanks.
I say this as I am going to go with 11.6" wide Toyo's and Rugged Ridge black alloys. Will this go outside of my stock flares?

You just have to check you state laws. In my area all they care about is bumper height other then that anything goes.
Check out your state DMV website.

I think the law is somewhere around a half of an inch past the fenders, either that or not at all. If it barely sticks out past the fenders, nobody will bother you over it.

Mine stick out past the fenders about an inch...Has not been a problem yet...The inspection guy made a comment last year about it. ..but passed it....Sucks driving behind me in the snow and rain though!

Good to know! The place that does my inspections actually is the same place that moutned and balanced my 35's for me. They are also going to be doing some install work on my sliders since I have no time or skill to do it myself. I am assuming they won't give me a hard time later this year when I need to bring it in for inspection!

I have had a problem getting my inspected, my tires go past the flares about an inch and tried two places and they both didnt pass me I also got pulled over once and was told tires cant extend past the flares at all.
