MASS Thread
Wish there were trails in or around town. Seems like fun local stuff is getting impossible to find. I'm right next to Worcester in shrewsbury with a 2010 JK with a 2.5 lift, firestone mt tires, and a full time Detroit locker in the rear. Let me know if you have any luck finding trails.
There are some shorter trails out there, off rt 20 behind Herbert's candy mansion off cherry st but its pretty short but if you have the itch it's good enough to get it out of your system. You can also find some trails in boylston, Charlton, millbury, but again nothing serious like we have out here in the berkshires but enough to have a little fun. Hey Mokos, been a while since we talked, what club are you in I'm starting to look into clubs, but would like to try a ride along with a club before I join. There is also a meet and greet with mass krawlers Sunday 3/24 at Jillian's in Worcester at 2:00

Just make sure that these trails you are running are ok to run. I have lists of all the places to wheel in MA legally (i.e. not with a club) and it is VERY short with nothing around the area you mentioned in Worcester. Even if it looks OK to wheel, unless you have permission from the land owner, it probably isn't OK to be there. As Mokos, mentioned, where you live is pretty much the only place where we have legal public trails.
And in case you are not aware, there is also a law in MA that states that if you use any of those trails (public or private) where you are not the primary owner, you must register your Jeep as an Off-road vehicle and pay a fee and slap two big ugly stickers on your hood. This is still being challenged/fought and most 4wd clubs have their own policy on what they require their members to do but you should be aware of it as the fines are pretty hefty from what we are told. No clue if anyone has been fined yet but its worth knowing.
For the record...I have not slapped any big ass stickers on my Jeep yet.
I live in central MA (Templeton) and have had quite a bit of fun in Royalston around the power lines and even better out at Savoy Mt in the Berkshires. Savoy Mt was very cool. No bouldering but if you didn't have a good Jeep or 4x4 you were not coming back. We were camping at the Savoy Mt State park and the weekend was nothing but downpours. I asked at the park office where the good wheelin spots were and they sent us up by Tannery Falls. We had two JK's and we had a great time. P.S. bring a gps, there were no signs of any kind and we got lost multiple times
Ran into a park ranger on his day off doing some wheeling and he put us on the right trail. If you get up there you gotta hike the falls. Reminded me of the Lost River in NH.

It's right around Tully Lake. I don't know the area well enough to tell you street names etc but there was some good wheelin this past winter all along and around the high power lines. The power lines have got to show up on google earth.
Thanks. I'll check it out. My parents live only 5 min from Tully Lake.
