Default Wheel spacer needed.

I just put on 35's and now my spare tire won't fit on the stock carrier without a spacer.

Anybody locally have one with lugs that they don't mind parting with. It needs to be at least an inch wide.

Let me know.

Dave.

wont fit b/c the tire makes contact with the bumper? or because the back spacing of the wheel?

the only bad thing about using the spacer is your putting the weight of the tire further out from the OE carrier and that puts more stress on it, and it will deffinately break over time. if its not going on only because its contacting the bumper you could notch out the bumper.

I have to take a look again, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the backspacing on the wheel. I didn't really want to spend the money on an aftermarket carrier just yet.

Any suggestions for a cost effective resolution?

BTW -- made a run through Tolland and Top of the World today. It was a last minute thing.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Check the rubber bumpers on the tailgate, they may need to be trimmed.
The third brakelight is also something that could prevent the tire from being mounted.

You might try and lift it up with the gate open and start the bottom lug first, then push on the upper part of the tire and start the top lugs, then tighten them down.

After you close the gate, you will see everything that is in your way.

I used a spider track spacer for about half a day, just to see what it looked like. The tire did fit with but it wobbled back and forth. My buddy said he could see the rear tail gate flex. So not a good idea! I need to bite the bullet for a rear carrier. Just my 2 cents.

I used a teraflex spare tire spacer for a month because the backspacing on my wheels was too much (5.0 BS) and it wobbled alot as well on mine. It didnt do any damage, but it made so much noise over bumps, it wasnt worth it.

I've had a 35" on an 8" rim with 4.5" backspacing on there - no problem
I have a 36" on an 8" rim with 5" backspacing... no problem after a little trim.

If it doesn't fit for whatever reason.. .try mounting it backwards. I did that when I had to get a 37" on there for a little while.
