Default First time JK owner... Already having trouble

I got a 2016 unlimited sport a few weeks ago. ESC light came on days after I got it. It mainly stays on but there’s times when it will flash and turn off but a few minutes later it will turn back on and stay on. About a week ago as I was driving the e brake light and asb light flashed on the dash but it was so quick I almost missed it. It didn’t happen again until this morning while I was on my way to work both lights came on again, hill descent control flashed, and speedometer dropped down to 0. This time the lights stayed on a few seconds and even my phone disconnected from BT and the stereo went back to the radio. This happened about 10-15 mins into my drive to work and it kept happening the rest of the way and it happened again the whole way home. I’m hoping I can get some answers about what it might be before I take it in and probably have to pay an arm and a leg to get it checked out.

First things first- check that your battery terminals are tight. The new jeeps are different. You've got to squeeze the fitting and then tighten it while holding it in place. Loose connection could explain it.

Yup, definitely check the battery with all those things going on. If you don't have a code reader, the Jscan app is pretty handy. $20 for a license and $13 for a blutooth dongle off the web and you have a programmer and diagnostics tool. Even if you're not throwing and engine code, when that ABS light comes on the computer is storing a code in the ABS module which you can easily access with something like the Jscan app, and several others. A basic OBDII scanner won't read those though. If it weren't for the radio freaking out as well I'd think maybe you have a speed sensor going bad. I've been fighting a little ABS gremlin myself. Thought it was solved, but it's back. Karl's comment reminds me I need to double-check my battery as well

Got around to checking the battery terminals and turns out they have aluminum foil around the posts(??) The positive is also loose since one of the nuts seems to not tighten all the way. It just turns and turns but doesn’t tighten. Today after one of the multiple light shows on the dash the battery light came on. I pulled over right away and messed with the loose terminal. When I turned it back on the battery light was gone and no more light shows for the rest of the way to work or on my way home after work. Only light on was the ESC.

You can get heavy duty terminals and just move the wires over. There are different ways to do it but you'll want new terminals and you'll be all set.
