Hello from Upstate NY
Hi guys. New member checking in.
After nearly 10 years of driving the grocery getter / baby mover Honda Civic / Accords I decided to return to the Jeep world. I had a 2001 Wrangler Sport 2.5l back in 2005. Salvage title with 30km. Slate blue color. It was my first car out of college and it was absolutely amazing. The kind of vehicle that every time you get out of it you say "Damn... That is my car. Its awesome". Installed a 4'' lift, bull bar, and 33'' tires. Drove the crap out of that hamster powered box. A little while later gas prices hit $5. I got stupid and sold it.
Anyway fast forward to last year. My wife and I just had a baby. I'm the baby transport in the morning and afternoon so I was adamant that I had a vehicle with 4WD or AWD for the winter. I stopped at the local Honda dealership and saw a Ridgeline out front. I whip in and get out. The FIRST thing I see is a Jeep Green JKU X right behind it. I immediately forget about the Ridgeline. The JKU had sat for 100+ days on the lot. No one wanted it. The price certainly reflected that. It was gorgeous. No real rust. Undercoated already. Brand new tires. Perfect interior. My wife told me it wasnt practical and that now that we had a baby we had to be smarter about things... Fine. You're right. Ok. Well what I didnt know is that she was just trying to surprise me. She had already planned everything out. She went to the bank that Friday and got everything straightened out. Negotiated with the dealer. All I had to do was say YES. She is amazing.
So that is the story of my re-entry to the Jeep world.
So far I've done a few very mild and practical upgrades. Installed a hitch. Plasti-dipped the wheels. I added a 52'' light bar with windshield mounts and a Rugged Ridge A pillar switch pod. New bumper is coming in a month or two (wife's anniversary present apparently) and hopefully some decent suspension parts.
Feels good to be back
Pics attached. Old Jeep, new JKU when I got it and JKU in natural habitat with 52'' light bar installed.

Nice! My parents house is about 5 minutes from Lake George. Beautiful place for sure. Crazy in the summers.
