You're stationed at the best base for offroading. I lived there for five years and now Im at Campbell well actually Afghanistan. I basically stole my JK for a song and a dance but I plan on getting my wife a 4dr Rubi when I get home. I've put a bunch of money into mine but it wont be anywhere near the price of a Rubicon when Im done. I'm getting my wifes because it will be like a point and shoot camera for her. She has plenty of seat time on the trails but its so easy and it takes the hesitation away to just point it at a hill and go. The Rubi is the way to go if you can afford it, but don't blow the whole bonus. By the way there are some awesome trail books for Colorado. Get some and plan your summers well you only have a few good months at the high elevations ie the passes. I wish I were back there.

Thanks everyone and hello to my brothers in Afghanistan. I looked at the Rubi and the best price for that is 32,011 right now only added hardtop and tow. The Sport is 27,488. A little over 4500 difference.

I just really don't see myself doing rock crawling or anything extreme like I see in some of your pictures.

I am more of the go camping and go on some trails and stuff. Is that Rubi material or will I be paying for stuff I would not use. Just looking for everyones opinion.

Thanks again.

Two points of view on that. If you just want it to get you camping and stuff, the X is very, very capable, as long as you have some tires for the mud. I've done some pretty stupid stuff with mine and I rarely get stuck.

On the other hand, I''m kicking myself for gettting the X now that I see what the Rubi does stock.

The good news is that you can upgrade your X to exactly what you want later, if you so choose. It's just a little (or a lot) more work than buying the Rubicon to begin with.

Well I appricate everyones help, I placed the order for the Sport. I understand everyone's feelings on the Rubi, but talking with some Jeepers here I feel it would be too much for me. Plus this will allow me to hopefully get the lift, tires, and wheels...just have to convince the wife! Now I only have 8 months to wait

Congrats man! You'll enjoy your Sport. And if and when you max out it's potential, you can buy any upgrades to make the Sport as ridiculous as you want. Just check out what COP4x4, Poison Spyder Customs and all those guys can do to the most basic JK.
