Just registered. Man, there are a lot of Jeep Wrangler forums, most of them owned by the same company (or else they are URL redirects to a main board). I found this one; the company that owns this board owns a lot of other brands. Looks like this board will be around for a long while.
Bought a 2008 JK X in September 2023 from a tote-note lot. As you might guess, it is not in the best shape. In fact, the only things replaced are a radiator (which is defective), valve covers and ball joints (that were not installed correctly). No maintenance has been done on this thing at all other than oil changes since new. At least oil changes was done on a regular basis. The attitude around my neck-of-the-woods is to drive it until the wheels fall off. This JK may have been pretty close to that. I caught a lot of fatal issues pretty quickly within weeks of buying it. Still has everything OEM other than the 4+inch RC lift that was bought as a kit in 2008, so 2008-era track bar, control arms and bushings, shocks, steering dampeners, etc were still on it. I ditched the OEM headlights for Morimoto Super 7 LEDs. There's other things, but think this is enough for an introductory post.
This is my first Jeep.

Reason: Adding more info.
It looks like you're gonna give that JK a new lease on life!!! Welcome. Yes, this forum is owned by Internet Brands, who purchased it from the original creator, whom many don't care for, years ago. Things have gotten a bit quiet around here, as with most JK boards, but there are still a handful of us around that give some good support.
The body looks good except for the usual stuff, like dents from the mirror hitting the cowl and both doors having some damage around the hinges. The hood is wrinkled and the gate appears to have been victim of a heavy tire mounted on the OEM spare tire mount. My next project is the top, which is trashed along with the door surrounds. Someone thought to screw the side windows in with drywall screws into the door surrounds! It has no back window since I took it out. It was held in with cable ties and duct tape. The top itself has numerous holes, especially up front so I can get rained on while driving.
By the way, I have no spare tire or mount, so I'll be working on that soon. It needs everything.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope to reciprocate the help as I'm sure some of my strengths will help others.
