Default Jeep Wave from San Diego!

Hello everyone! New Jeep owner here, excited to mostly stay home for now, then once this quarantine is over, drive to work and on occasions hit the dirt roads. I just need to upgrade my tire situation.

When I do upgrade my tires (thinking 33s), do I need to upgrade the wheels/rims? I'm so new to this.

Welcome.

For a 33x12.5" tire, you need 5.5" backspacing. those factory wheels are 6.25 BS, so you'd either want new wheels, or add some quality wheel adapters (commonly referred to as "spacers" even though spacers are technically a while different thing). What you might do is cruise the CL adds in your area. I'd bet that in San Diego there are a ton of nice used wheels for sale that you might be able to pick up on the cheap. 17x9 wheels with 4.5" BS are the most common thing you'll see as they will accommodate up to a 35x12.5" tire nicely (room to grow).

Welcome! You would need to change backspacing... but a look around you probably will find someone that dumped their Rubicon rims... maybe tires too... I see them on e-bay or Craigslist quite often!

Welcome. Like resharp001 said, Craigslist will be your friend . There are always tires with wheels for sale for reasonable prices. Post some pics when you get your new setup.
