At the moment I want the two door but the reason I joined, is to find these kind of things out. So why the four door (unlimited)? I like the shorter wheel base and kids are gone and even though I would still use it for around town, it's mainly to be used off road. Are there any advantages to the unlimited longer wheel base?

Well if you get the 2D, might as well take out the back seat. Cause nobody will be sitting back there besides kids or yung adults. The 4D has more room. And the ability to take guests out on the trails. The 4D with no back seat would probably make pretty good overnight sleeping quarters.

I agree with some of the above comments. I have a 2 dr and would welcome additional room the 4 dr has. Its just my wife, dog and I and it is perfect for us. We have taken the back seat out on a few trips. I do not regret not getting one. I love my 2 dr. Price was an issue as well. Another reason I got the Sport so I can modify myself.

Welcome back to the jeep world steve...and I say 2 door all the way like you said the shorter wheel base is nice. very manuverable and just fun to drive especially if its mostly a offroad vehicle toss the back seat and carpet, slap some 40s on there and have a ball

Then again im biased...im 19 with no kids or anyone to really have to drive around with me othrr then friends missing extra space doesent bother me.

Wow, 1980. I would recommend you go on some trail runs with friends before buying. I got the 4 door and love it, but there are so many benefits to each. The longer wheel base really helps off road. On the other hand, the shorter wheelbase really helps off road...lol. The Rubi is N I C E, but if you're gonna change/upgrade all of it anyway, might want to forgo the added expense and get a Sport or X. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Ya, 1980, but I used to drive Jeeps, Duece and a halfs, and 5 ton trucks not to mention the old POS 10 tons with the Dragon Wagons pulling M60 tanks all over Fort Hood. The jeeps and Dueces were up streams, over deep mud pits from the tank trails, sometimes having to winch out of them, it will be like riding a bike.

I thought when I got my Harley I would have to learn all over again, last time I rode before my 07 Ultra Classic was 1989, well it was like I just got off my last bike and took off without a problem
