OK... I must admit I have been a voyeur of you guys for some time now.... but in a good way... not the over the fence checking out your stuff kind... (at least not today... Oh and FYI you might want to buy some curtains...!!!). What I mean is that I took a LONG time deciding on my Rubicon and you guys posting everything and anything about Jeeps made me finally make my decision... (OK YouTube helped as well a bit... need to give credit there as well). I can't even count the number of posts I dug through and great info and reviews I found!!!
But now the day has come... Ordered it in Oct and took final delivery yesterday. Why so long? I'm retired military (US Navy) now working for NATO in Italy. I used the Navy Exchange car sales and they have to order it, it gets built, and then it gets delivered to Baltimore for shipment overseas. Then it gets to Germany and they have to ship it down to me in Italy... of course once it arrived in Germany there was huge Italian trucker strike that delayed it 1 more week.... then a major blizzard in Europe that delayed it a few more days (Snow in mid/southern Italy causes everything to stop - faster than yelling Free Vino!!!).
So it arrived in Naples last Monday and I was able to get down yesterday (Fri) to pick her up... I'm 2-3 hours away
God what a ride home - even if it was cold and with freezing rain with another storm coming in - bring it on!!!! I got 4WD!
I opted for the 6sp manual, 130 stereo, heated seats, tow package, dual top group, black cloth interior, U-connect, auto climate control.
I'll have a lot of questions about parts and things because I am in Italy and need to rely on the web for most of my info and shopping - I can't really go out and meet the 'Jeepers' and head to the Moab (!!!) and won't pay Italian prices for stuff unless I have tooo. So look forward to the future info exchange....
Now she needs a name...??? What to call a White Rubicon if the user's nickname is Icetek??? (Oh and Ice princess is off limits!!! That's my ex-girlfriends name!!!!)
Cheers
Mike

Sounds like similar history here. Guess I better make my own intro as well but retired USN and just put my Rubi on order through ENCS. They wanted to deliver it to Idaho 3 May but I got them to push it back to 25 May and I still don't know if I'll be able to leave Iraq or not to be there. Probably should have waited to order a 2013...hope I don't wind up kicking my butt over this.
Hope you're enjoying Italy. I think it would be some awesome duty working in Europe and getting around to check stuff out. Only overseas location I've lived at was in Japan 92-96 but took a vacation to Garmisch in 2008 and had a ball.
Take care and hope to get better acquainted.
