Default New to the forum and to JK

Hey I am new here and now have my first JK.
Bitter sweet wrangler is what I should call it.
love the jeep but the guy I bought it from somehow rolled the odometer back 40k miles and now I have to take it to the Bell county auto theft task force to make sure it isn't stolen.
Drove it for 2 weeks and the alternator went out and now the oil pressure light comes on at 3000 RPM.
LIKE I SAID, BITTER SWEET because I love the damn thing.

Wow.

My understanding is the mileage is stored in an EEPROM on the instrument cluster, along with the VIN. The mileage and VIN are also stored in the PCM. They can both be changed, but that's a level of sophistication that makes me believe the person you bought the vehicle from is a "professional", or at least knows one. In any case, if you can prove the mileage has been rolled back, the guy who sold you the vehicle is in trouble with Johnny Law, TxDMV division (and maybe local law enforcement too).

But you probably know all that and then some.

Best of luck. Hope you get rid of the BITTER part soon!
