New Rubicon in Philly
Hello, I just picked up my new Rubicon Unlimited tuesday. Great to be back in a jeep again, I had a 88 SJ before this, and 85 SJ, 87 YJ, and learned to drive on a 62 willys pick-up when I was 13, so yeah I love jeeps among other things.
I am really liking the rubicon so far, the wrangler has come along way amenity wise since the yj I had (258 carberated). Found a decent deal with the current incentives but had to drive 4 hours from philly to johnstown to find a dealer that would pull in a 6spd optioned with HT and navi as I wanted in flame red.
Trip home was great, avg 19mpg according to the OBC, although I did see 20 and 21 at times when the turnpike was a downgrade. By the time I got home to philly and to my house through traffic I was down to 18.9 by the time I hit my driveway. Over the next few days I Filled up the tank, which for the unlimited is supposed to be 22.5 (I ran it down to low-fuel as indicated by the obc) and it only took 18.8 ga. I'm not sure how accurate the DTE is, it did say 30ish and then jumped to 50 or 60, and then next was low warning.
Regardless, hoping to log some better trip economy as the engine is run in and I learn what if any mods can be done to help perf and economy on trips, (only 560 miles on the odometer at this point.) It is still a jeep I realize, and a rubicon at that.
Already found out alot of good information on this board so far, going to get the slush mats this week as well as the door sill guards.
I am looking at intake filters kits, haven't found any tests which indicate the best one thou yet. Man is this thing guttless on grades and hwy passing, might have to look at unichip or others one day.
I am (as well as others,) surprised how quiet and nice this thing rides when compared to the SJ (full size jeep grand wagoneer) I just replaced. I still can't believe the bfg mud t's are as quiet as they are. My SJ had 31x10.5 micky thompson radials on, not noisy, but not quiet either. The JK has way more hwy composure than any capable jeep I've owned before. Seems easy to forget its a rubicon!!!
Glad to be here!

Welcome to the site. Don't worry so much mileage. Instead concentrate on the fact that you're driving a kick a** vehicle and that you're better then most of the poor souls out there on the road because of it.
