Soon to be Jeeper
would love the Rubicon, but not enough $$..lol
ok, ready for some noob questions?
1. What RPM's are you guys running at 75 mph, with the 6 speed transmission. (I am trading in a 4.0l Toyota Tacoma 6 speed), and it screams when going over 70..
2. If I order my jk with the "upgraded" soft top, does the back of the soft top follow the curve of the back of the cage? I have seen soft tops that do this, and it look awesome!
3. anything that I need to be aware of as far as mechanicals? for example, on the Tacoma, front wheel bearings tend to go out at 70,000 miles, because they skimp on quality grease. Blower motors tend to chirp in Tacoma's. Throw out bearings scream on some, before 60,000 miles, while others go forever..
why am I getting rid of the taco? I got the access cab, and have 2 teenagers over 6'3"..we just don't fit.
My last Wrangler was a 1992, with the 4 cylinder engine. man, that thing went anywhere.
after reading quite a few posts, it seems the same here..some jeep lemons, some run forever.
I am with the camp that doesn't really want to spend time under the Jeep to repair, if I am spending $30,000 on an Unlimited Sport. Modifying, yes...repairing poor quality, not so much..
Can't wait for February..ordering on the 11th!!

I have a '12 JKU.... And I love it.. Drive it daily but not far. I'm 6'1 and don't mind the back seat but not comfortable with several people that size back there. But totally doable without feeling like you need a crowbar getting people in and out. I'm running 37s and a long arm kit. Lost some power after lifting.. But the 3.6 engine is really awesome. With 37s and 4.10s I can easily scream down the highway at 80-85mph without high RPMs and no problems (on a non windy day... Brick in the wind still.
. )I don't think you can get the trek top from the factory... But I could be wrong... PM me if you have any questions.....

thanks for the replies guys..
so, it is called a "trek top" if so, I won't go with the upgrade, just go for a trek top. so far, I think I am going with the sport S with a 23S package, towing option, limited slip, connectivity option..
missing anything?

thats pretty much what I have. I had every option for a sport except for the 7 speaker radio. 4 grand in upgrades later, wish I'd done the Rubicon. I think when I got into jeeping I wasn't sure how much I was going to get hooked, but now I can see I'm hooked for life and having the lockers and 4:1 transfer case would have been worth it.
The trek top is an aftermarket top made by best top. I'd get comfortable with quadratec and northridge 4x4 websites lol. The upgrades come quick.
As far as what you need, first how are you planning on using it? A mall queen, dirt trail, mud bogs, or rock crawler? All have different needs.
