I understand that... but when you do this you start a culture of "well, I am a VIP and you are not" or "I paid to be on this site"... everyone should be on the same level playing field.

 

We already have the whole "bow down to me, I have a Rubicon and you don't" attitude among some members, so why not extend that elitist bullsh*t and have a VIP section?

 

Well, because it would overshadow the simple fact that everyone should be bowing to us Sahara pilots instead.

I think Doojer (and his access to all the cool terrain and trail runs with WOL and company) is a great example that us Saharas can wheel, too.

Back on topic:
I like the idea of having some special privledges over the "casual" user, newbies and lurkers, but I don't know that I'd want to have to pay for it... and you can't make some special privledges post-count-based, because then people would post-ho it up to get into the range needed for those privledges... whatever to do?

I don't like the idea of a paid VIP membership.
there's a jeep club site which i won't mention that does that paid VIP access to parts of their forums. I don't understand what top secret stuff they discuss on their paid forums that us mere mortals can't see. needless to say, I'm sticking around here.

 

I'd be willing to pay a modest amount, since this is such a great Forum, but free is good too. Ditto on the black.

 

well the problem is that then people would stop posting on non-vip areas and the free areas would be left solo
