Hey guys, after a few months of lurking and wasting time at work I figured I'd register and introduce myself.

I'm in central VA, minutes from the Blue Ridge parkway, lots of trails in the area. I bought a low mileage 2007 JK Rubicon 6sp about 6mos ago, and drove it like it was for several months trying to figure out what changes (if any) I wanted to make to it. I don't do any hard core wheelin' as this is my daily driver and broken parts would get expensive. Rocks don't interest me either.

But I do have some places I tend to go where the mud gets a little deep, and a small river I like to ford for hunting that tends to get higher than I'd like (36" or so) after heavy rain. So with that in mind, I decided on the following for my build:

Old Man Emu 2" Lift
35" Tires
ARB Stubby Winch Bumper
ARB Rear w/ tire carrier
Warn 8klb Winch

Still undecided on lighting but the stock head lamps have got to go. If anyone has any suggestions for an inexpensive but solid upgrade please let me know!

I'm only partially along on the list, and I'd like to get an sPod before the aux lighting.

Your jeep build looks good so far! I was in same situation wanting an affordable lighting upgrade and I went with the IPF kit and I am really happy with it. It was easy to install, affordable and made a world of difference in night driving, and they dont look too white/purple like a tuner car might have. Heres a link to where I got mine: IPF 920H4 JK Headlight Kit (JK_920H_KIT)

Im sure you can find lots of reviews in the forums on these. Welcome!

Welcome from Northern Virginia. What trails are you going on? Is it part of GWNF?

Welcome and great looking Jeep!

I'm in north central NC just a few minutes from the VA line. Would like to explore more of VA in the future.

Thanks guys.

Yes, mainly the GWNF, and some trails off the parkway when I feel like expiring a little.

My family has some land bordered on three sides by the GWNF, I'd like to be able to reach some of the more remote locations without having to hike 5+ miles to get to a deer stand or camping spot - this is the impetus of my build.

I spent $80 on my headlight upgrade and I am very happy with how it worked out. Its an HID bi xenon (high and lo beams) I got it off amazon, installed in under an hour with zip ties and they are much brighter then stock, but not blinding to oncomers. For double that you can get LED plug and play bulbs, which are easier to install but its twice the money, and for $400 ish you get trucklites which are beastly headlights, but ya, $400 smackers. for $400 smackers you can get better bulbs AND a light bar.
