Default Wheels change question

Hello you, Jeepers!

I presently have a '18 JKU Rubicon Recon lifted with a MetalCloak 2.5 True Dual Rate lift kit using my own shocks. I've borrowed the wheels from the Sahara I previously owned, Ruffino Hard Armour in 18X9 with a +20 offset. When the garage installed the Metalcloak lift kit, they said they had to put 1.5 spacers because of the size of the tire I made them installed (some sweet Maxxis RZR AT in 35X12.5). So my question is, if I want to change the wheels, what offset do I need to go with to remove the spacers they put? I was lurking at the Fuel Covert D695 in size 18X9 (crazy color, I know! ). The wheel is available in +1 (in stock) and -12 (have to order) offset, so with offset will be the best regarding the fact that I want to remove the 1.5 wheel spacers?? I primarily use the jeep to go on vacation with a rooftop tent, wheeling a little, nothing too crazy... I've been told by a seller that I should be fine with the +1 offset, but I'm not crazy convinced about that. Presently, I have wheels poking out about 2" with my actual setup. I know this looks good but during the winter, all the snow and crap covers all around the doors and window which I not like a lot.

I know It's full of variables but I'm kind of torn. Help needed!

With a 35x12.5 tire 4.5" BS (-12mm offset on a 9" wide wheel) is really optimal. You can get by with a bit more BS, up to ~5.25", but it's pretty close clearance-wise. Better to go less BS to start with if buying new wheels.

Your current wheel/adapter combo is 4.75" BS, so it's going to look a lot like it currently does, just another 1/4" further out.

@resharp001 I use the website tiresize.com to play with measurments… Indeed, that comfirmed what you say!

with the -12 offset, without the spacer, the wheel is supposed to look a lot like the present setup, the wheel itself will only be about a 1/4 more towards the vehicule. I think that with the +1 offset, it’s more 3/4 of inch.

I understand the need for the so wished 4-1/2 inch of backspace; it’s to eliminate all chances of contact/rubbing or interferance with suspention components…

Anyway, I called the guy to change my order. I’ll see what he’ll have to say. The main goal here is to eliminate weak spots, aka the wheel spacers.

Do you know of all offsets are equal for same width of rim (let’s say, for comparison purposes)? I know that with narrower rims, the offset is not always the same…
