I am not saying it is necessarily a bad thing, I just saying that some of us feel like it is "selling out". Kind of like when your favorite band is awesome and loud and on the edge (Metallica) then they come out with a Black album that hits mainstream and everyone loves it, they get rich and super famous. It just isn't the same anymore......Wranglers just aren't the same anymore.....they have become "Civilized", "Mainstream", "too common". Some of us just don't want to be like everyone else.
I think the last straw for me was when I saw a JKU (35's, 4" lift, HiLift jack, winch, aftermarket bumpers) on the side of the road last summer and I was slowing down to stop and help. Then I noticed there was a tow truck there changing his tire while he is talking on his cell phone.

I had a Jeep for years and when the kids started coming it had to go. 13 years and 3 kids later and it was a JKUS for me. I insist on taking my Jeep on vacation and with three kids 6-13.. Room is at a premium. I also have plenty of battle scars from being off-road (Sometimes you can move a tree a little to slip by and sometimes you just can't)..

My JKUR sees more time off road that my 3 neighbors combined who have 2 doors. They have the typical "mall crawler". Don't want scratches, dings, mud, afraid to break something, etc. they maintain they bought the two door as it is a "real jeep". Then, I always make a point to tell them I went out, again. Then I ask, when you gonna take it out? None of the three will. Posers....... Not to say this is common for all two door owners, but, I've found no bearing on two door vs. 4 door, which of the two wheel more, harder, better, longer, more difficult trails, how often, etc., etc.
Last I checked, D-Bags buy and pose with both.

I will admit it gets kind of embarrassing seeing all the dealer modded JK's that are never used off-road or even for outdoor recreation (Hunting, fishing etc). Everybody has winches now.
