3.6L "Chirping" noise = Water Pump

My 2013 Wrangler w/ 13,000 miles has been making a "chirping" sound from the front of the engine after it warms up. Originally I thought it sounded like the alternator bearing might be going. Took it into the dealership yesterday and they told me it was the water pump. They had replaced a couple alternators before they figured out it was actually the water pump. Apparently it's been common on the 3.6L.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up if they start hearing a chirping noise.

My chirping sound was the throughout bearing at 3k miles. 2014 JKR Rubi. Very common clutch issues. I have not heard much about water pumps. Thanks for info.

Yep. Had the "chirping noise about two years ago on my '13. After a few trips to the dealership without resolve, they finally replaced the water pump. I originally told them that was the problem but of course they did not listen to me. I found out through this forum, I think, and watching a video that was posted.

Hmm. I'm chirping now and I've noticed some slightly higher engine temps. Guess I'll find out Friday morning on rubicon

2012 jku. Dealer replaced mine as drivetrain warranty. Said the bearings in them were a common problem.

Jeep JK Pully Electric Whine

Jeep JK 3.6 2012. Replaced water pump, 2 idler pulleys, x2 belts <1yr, still get this high pitched electrical sound after driving 10min moderate hills <45mph. Engine does not overheat ~110—120deg. No codes or lights, drives fine, insanely annoying
