yup, i remember all too well. i was the one that bs'd with you about your jk and mygig that day waiting for all the traffic to clear. it was a looooonnnnnggggg day (didn't get off the trail until 1am).

this is what it looked like all day (traffic jam) and then eventually there were many o' tow straps.

here's my rig if you remember.

hey Monty how goes it?..I can't believe how late you guys were up there....what the heck took so long? The road was pretty clear when we left. I think most of the LR guys were more used to the dirt and sand over the snow...and I think a couple of bad decisions....but all in all I had a great time even if we had to wait.

the one section that stopped us was chewed up by the bigger tired folks before us. it was a super slushy section about 125 feet long or so. the rovers going through before me didn't help. by the time we got there, a couple of toyotas were coming in and chewed it up more before we could get out. they parked their trucks literally inches off of the trail (they couldn't go any further) which made it kinda hard for the last in our group to just throttle past them, as we didn't want to hit their trucks. they were getting stuck on the trail and one of our guys had to pull them out, to let the rest of our group go through. most of the trucks in our group were unlocked.

Thumbs up Shuteye Peak

The Shuteye Peak (lookout) trail was a lot of fun. We did it last Oct, it was my first 4x4 experience in my JK. To get there you go through Bass Lake and up to Central Camp. The entire trail was on my MyGig, which was kind of cool. I'm sure a google will get you better directions.

I have some pics of shuteye posted at flickr, see my sig. below.

Default Shuteye Peak/Bodie Ghost Town

I'm thinking of doing this trail tomorrow??? My guide book says May to November! Is there quite a bit of snow up there? I may try it and turn around if I have to, but would rather try it with a couple other Jeeps.

My other option is Bodie ghost town trail.

Anybody interested???

Chip
