I used to live out in Monterey back in the day... trails im not sure how much it has changed but out by Laguna Seca Raceway there is a nice couple areas with shallow creaks and and rock beds... bunch of hills... and then out toward the beach there are a couple dunes that you are able to drive out on. If you get a chance its not trails but take a drive down 17mile drive if you get a chance in Carmel California along Pebble Beach and all that. Gorgeous... hope you enjoy the trip and hope i was some bit of help.

I will be in Monterey this weekend as well for a Christmas party. I am not aware of any real trails in the area but it is a really nice area. Big Sur is just south and there is one extremely easy trail. Actually in my trail guide as extremely easy (dirt road) but a a nice drive and pretty scenic. I believe it is Redwood Coast road. If you want me to look it up I will.

Old Coast Road Redwood Grove. This is old coast road near big sur, california. Before Bixby Bridge was built on HWY 1, this was the way locals took to Carmel. ...

It look's like Bert is going out on the 13th. I believe east of bakersfield. I am on vacation so maybe take the little misses on that run. It won't be like lockwood/miller where I have to be up at 5 am after wheeling and driving all day.
