Extreme Gear in Sacramento
So I'm getting my gears installed Wednesday at Extreme Gear. I've heard good things about them and a couple of weeks ago when I went to check them out they had a ton of beautifully built Jeeps(mostly TJs), but it sure felt like I was at the right place! Anyway, I'll post up here Thursday or Friday and let you know how I was treated and how it went. The price quote was $860 for gears and rear ARB installed. I installed the compressor this week and ran the air line back to the diff to save some money.
EDIT--4/8
Well, the above is funny to read now. So much for saving money. How did I think I was gonna save money with a Jeep anyway haha...
Well I'm happy with the gear change from Extreme. All is not well however. Due to 4wheelparts not getting me the proper install kit for the front axle, I had to pay extra $100 in parts and the extra time and effort to get these parts by Extreme lead to higher price for shop time. It appears that Genuine Gear doesn't even have a master install kit for the dana 30 JK! They must have sold me a TJ dana 30 kit. I'm not looking forward to dealing with them on this issue. All would be fine if I had just requested Superior install kit. So all the money I thought I was saving by using 4wheelparts is gone plus some.
I'm still happy I got my Jeep back and the ARB seems to be working fine in the rear.
With the 5.13s in, I could never recommend 4.88s to anybody with an auto tranny. Even with a 6spd I think the 5.13s would probably be better for tires 35" or taller.

kid, you picked a great place to have your work done. Extreme Gear is top notch. Be sure and meet Scott the owner and tell him your coming on the Jeepers Jamboree. He works for us at our Buck Island repair station. Stop in and say hi to him when you come through this July. Hopefully, you won't need his professional services when you pass thru.
No, but somebody locally from Craigslist is supposed to be paying me this week. Let me know if you are interested and I won't give him a second chance
He told me last week that he would get back with me for payment when he got paid. I'll see, but I'm skeptical.
So far so good on their end. I'm happy with the price and the treatment. I had one mishap(see my thread on 4 Wheel Parts in JP Talk) with 4WPW and don't have everything I need causing a delay. My Jeep should be ready Friday now. They sure do have some nice TJ and LJs sitting around there! So far I'm very comfortable that I made the right choice and I have a reputable place to go from now on!
I asked for a price quote from 4WPW just for comparison and they wanted over $1200 for labor! I know Offroad Evolution down south does gears and install for that much! Even if 4WPW would have been $100-$200 cheaper I would have went with Extreme.
Yeah, I sure hope I don't come limping in to Buck Island!

Thanks Chip but I just dont have the extra funds with the baby coming soon. Its not your price but the price of the install that is the big hit to the wallet (as you are well aware of). We have to get out locally soon to go for a ride.

Yeah no full day trips for me. The next several weekends are mostly going to be spent getting the house/nursery ready for the new baby, floors walls furniture etc. On another note just got my motorcycle back from its 12,000 mile service and cant wait to do a bit of short pleaure riding trips, I like doing the 121-128 Napa loop as wellas river road to the cable bardge crossing. I have been taking it to work but... like driving a jeep it is just not as fun going straight down the highway.
