Ideal place in Nor-Cal
So if one was wanting to move to Nor-Cal from CO where would be your ideal location? Looking for a warmer climate, close to the coast, and still have plenty of outdoor activities available. I'm thinking probably somewhere just south of SF or just east of SF? How far of a drive is the Sierras from there? Don't know a ton about CA, so let me know where is your favorite area and why. Thanks!
It depends on whether you want city or rural and how deep your pockets are!
There are some nice rural burbs around Sacramento that would put you close to Tahoe and skiing(and of course Rubicon Trail), but a little further from the coast.
If you want coastal and city.... SF or San Jose I guess, plus all the various burbs in between.
What kind of work will you be doing?

LA is a Rat Race in my opinion. North of the Bay is some great areas as well but little nightlife.
If you want hot in the summer then you could go with Walnut Creek, Concord. Further south of there San Ramon, Dublin gets pricey. San Jose can get pricey but more of an industrial city. Further east is Tracy, Modesto. These would be halfway'ish between the ocean and the mountains.
Fresno area is still cheap enough, no earthquakes and hot in the summer but an hour to great wheeling in the sierras. Nightlife is awesome and the gals are alittle country still but refined if you know what I mean...some real hotties in the cen cal area and the beach as in Pismo where you can still drive in the sand on the dunes is a little over an hour away...the best of all worlds I think

...Tahoe is dead in the summer when it comes to nightlife.
...Sacramento is soso for night life but can work if you want to have good places to wheel during the day
