From North shore hit up the back side of the Rubicon and drive down to the overlook at the top of Cadillac hill. You can make it there and views are great!

Look up Boca and stamped Reservoir. Between Tahoe and Truckee. Lots of easy trails and drive right to water and jump in spots... Great spot to check out and easy on the jk. 3OMins from North shore, water is a lot warmer than Tahoe. ~Rubicon is down on south shore~
Or if your in Incline village take 431 towards Reno and look for open trails of the road, not much but you can end up in some cool forest.
And ask locals trails change with weather

Sweet that's what I'm talking about I'm a big fan of hitting up the not so used trails. I'm stoked for this trip I don't know what I would do without this forum. Thanks for the tip, cheers.

Take 89 north from Truckee for 17 miles then turn left at the sign for Jackson Meadows Reservoir/Weber Lake. Miles and miles of roads, awesome scenery, a dozen or so high alpine lakes.

I'm going to do this on Thursday, 08/16, should be fun if trail isn't too crowded.

The Rubicon comes out near incline village, at Homewood. It is Technically on the West Shore, about 20 miles from the "Y" on south shore, and 5 miles from Tahoe City.

Coming from Tahoe: you can park at the Staging Area (Homewood), where the trail begins, in a dirt, fairly large pull-out/parking area. Follow the signs to the Rubicon Trail OHV Access Route off the main higway that runs along the west side of Lake Tahoe in the Homewood area.

Homewood is an unincorporated community in Placer County, California of about 200 residents, located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It is located 5.5 miles (8.9 km) south of Tahoe City.

Too bad I can't go with you. It's a very nice drive with some off-roading. Have fun!
