Default Rubicon Trail info needed

We are looking at running the Rubicon trail the week of July 21st.. plan was to start on Monday the 21st or Tuesday the 22nd... and spend two days...
BUT it appears the Jeepers Jamboree starts the end of that week...
62nd Annual Jeepers Jamboree
4 Day - July 24-27, 2014
3 Day - July 25-27, 2014

since they turn what I believe is the main camp site, Rubicon Springs, into a small town do they close the trail to prepare for this event?
If so, does any one know what that weeks schedule is?

thanks

The trail stays open, it is a county highway. They only close it for weather. It was closed today because of wet conditions.

You will start seeing helicopter activity and rock stacking. Going monday will be better since less stacking will have occurred. It's actually a fun time to go since there are people out there who will chat with you.

I was thinking of a day run on Monday if my group can do the day.

thank you very much for the good news...
this is the only week we (the wife and I) can do it this year so now I think we can start planning it.

we plan on doing the trail in two days then spending 1-2 days in the Lake Tahoe area....
If I could I might be back with some more questions about the trail as we start planning the trip.

I'm hoping to keep the group to under 10 jeeps..

the research begins....

Looks like we have a small group... currently at 4 jeeps...or I should say maybe 4 jeeps.
My original plan was to do this in two days... and spend a little time on the Lake Tahoe side before heading home.. as we have a week (Sat to Sat,, Sunday being a spare day only if needed) to drive out there,, run the trail and drive home... home is Albuquerque so it's a good 2 day drive.
Wife isn't a big camper anymore with the arthritis.. thus the only one night camping plan
So a question to you guys that do this trail a lot...
is two days going to be pushing it .. long days.. etc or is a two day trip going to give us a far amount of time to enjoy it..?
I don't think any of us mind putting in a long day of wheeling,, we do it all the time... but it would be nice to be about half way done by 4ish... on day one...
none of us plan to take the real hard routes... we are more interested in just taking in the main trail and scenery....
All of us are experienced... also have done a far amount of rock crawling...

so any kind of review of a 2 day Rubicon trip and what we would expect would be great to hear...
thanks.

You should be able to enjoy it in 2 days, the problem is getting to the loon lake side to start it as it is a trek just to get there. Last time I ran it, it took me 6 hours to do the actual trail and I had 4 hours to and from the trail which makes for a long day. Look lake is a 3 hour drive for me. Buck Island is a nice place to camp if you just want to pitch a tent otherwise you can stay at the campsite with the serveses they have which is still pretty scenic but not as much as Buck. There are lots of hotels to stay at and casinos on the Nevada side if you want. Reno is about 40 min from the lake and has a couple of nice hotel/casinos with the peppermill being the nicest one.

No, I do not have any gps for the trail but there are tons of info and maps for the Rubicon on line. One more thing, you will not have cell service at all while on the trail. There are short wave repeters set up if you have a ham radio.
