This looks like fun. We haven't went on any trails with anyone on the forum yet and would like to eventually. Sounds like fun.

idiotec 06-19-2014 10:07 AM

Hmmmm. I will be coming down the hill sometime on Sunday. What time would you be hitting the trail?

Ok, 29th it is. Wasn't sure if you were still going. While it may not be a cool as the Rubicon, still a fun day trip. Anyone else in?

orangedude71 06-19-2014 06:33 PM

You thinking of tacking on some fordyce too?

spinuck 06-19-2014 07:24 PM

Jonboy, Cisco Grove has an RV park you can camp at. Getting a little old looking, but it does have amenities and you're one exit up from the Fordyce/Signal staging area. Right across the South Yuba from I-80.
Indian Springs is actually in the staging area, but again I could throw a rock from I-80 across the South Yuba and hit the c/g. Weekend it's probably gonna be tough to get a spot.
Woodchuck Flat is my favorite. It's located about two miles up the Committee Trail that you access right before you hit the guard gate at the Cisco Grove RV park. It has two very well maintained vault toilets ( I kid you not yesterday they smelled like Mr. Clean). There's 8 spots if I remember right, all of them have bear boxes, and it's beautiful terrain there. But, I have never camped there on a weekend, so not sure how crowded it would be. Yesterday there wasn't a sole in there. Just up the trail are the group sites. I'm not sure how many sites are in that section.

You should come out.

orangedude71 06-20-2014 06:39 PM

Maybe a little early to ask but what time are you thinking for the trailhead. I've got the long drive from southbay

spinuck 06-20-2014 06:45 PM

planned on meeting at 11am at Cisco Grove gas station. Early enough to run all the trails and make it home at a decent time, and late enough that you don't have to wake up at 5am :)

We are also in!

We have reservations in Truckee on Saturday night, so we'll be ready to roll earlier too.

spinuck 06-21-2014 08:37 PM

Alright, 10am it is, going to meet at Cisco Grove gas station, in case anyone needs to fill up. we'll head out at 10:15 to Eagle Lakes staging area to air down. Channel 36. we should have cell reception there, so if you're running late, post up here or PM me.

Planning on running Signal Peak, then come down and run Fordyce to first crossing. If time allows I'll probably run through the Pierce OHV loop too.

spinuck 06-21-2014 08:41 PM

Looks like we have:
Me
Familytime
Orangedude
Richlortz
JurassicJeep

Anyone else wanna come? Great chance to test out your Jeep if you haven't had a chance to wheel much yet!

I might be +2. Couple of co-workers.

idiotec 06-24-2014 09:02 AM

I'm a maybe. I will be up camping and coming down sometime that day, so won't necessarily have cell service to confirm before hand. If I make it down the hill in time I will try and hook up with you guys.

RRauzer 06-24-2014 12:57 PM

What's a rough trail time estimate for those that have been there before? (I work Sunday evening) I've only puttered around that general area (not Signal Peak) snow wheeling. My jeep is partially down for a hydro install but waiting on a part and I might put it back together for the weekend. I'm holding off the typical harder trails until I can steer again.

spinuck and I did this last year. He drives pretty fast :-). Signal peak was looped in about 1.5 hours. I'd say we spent 3 on the out and back on fordyce first water crossing

spinuck 06-24-2014 06:12 PM

Like Orangedude said, I'd say about 4.5 to 5 hours with stops. Anyone else interested?

orangedude71 06-24-2014 10:55 PM

Just a reminder
http://youtu.be/HMoK7fXyJV0 and
http://youtu.be/m7SxwYpyoDk Not sure what the water levels are at right now but another 8" would have been trouble

familytime 06-25-2014 04:57 AM

I doubt the waters that high.2 weeks ago while up there run off was low

Looks like 73/74 cfs now. Maybe water contracts/energy needs pushing it? Spaulding is def up.

your fine. Just roll up your carpet if you want to cross the river. Actually though, our uturn point will be the river crossing so you can opt out of that

your good to go with that setup. No problem. Although you may not want to cross the river with soft doors. But no worries because the river crossing is the uturn point so it's basically optional

Ended up with the Smittybilt SRC's. I know everyone says ACE but I didn't want to loose the ground clearance on the sides and wanted something up higher to prevent a repeat from a couple weeks ago. Plus they have a heavy duty frame mount that took under 20mins to install.
