How is the high country looking for this summer wheeling? Do ya think the Rubicon will open by August.

It was just snowing there last weekend. I will be up by Niagra Rim on sat will let you know how that looks. I also worry that the snow may stay longer this year.

There is still tons of snow. I was back in bear valley last week and there is still a good 7 feet left. That's at 7,000 feet though.

The Rubicon Trail at Loon lake is less than 6340' elevation and the trail exit is only 50' higher (6400') . However, the net gain and net loss on the trail is nearly 2000' in each direction.

There are people already running the trail and it is open year round if you can get to it.

Our group will be on the trail in 4 weeks. I expect snow and a good amount of water, but I also expect that the trail should be broken all the way across by then.
