Isn't Deer Valley on the closed list along with just about every single trail in Eldorado National Forest?

The 7th is a Rubicon run (in and out) at Loon. What are you looking for?

Deer valley is partially closed. I think most of the Hwy 4 side is open, but only a short distance from the Blue lakes side is open.

Sounds fun ... Is anyone else heading out there from the Oakland San Fran area? Also is anyone planning on camping I was supposed to leave for Oregon Friday but I doubt I'll want to drive 10 hours to corvallis after driving out to Loon wheelin all day then trying to make it to Oregon... I would love to join this run hopefully I can work something out!

I think its a meadow halfway between blue lakes and hermit valley. So go to the meadow and turn around.

This particular run is not a "Beginner-type" run. It is a day trip to Buck island and back via Old sleuce likely running little sleuce as well (but optional and can be passed). As such, the pace of this run will be faster than a multipleday approach. For example, I fully intend (hope to) strap on a bumper cam, and run from loon to little sleuce in under 1 hour. Anyone slower paced won't be a problem becuase you can simply catch up (there aren't any "where do we go" sections once past the granite bowl). But if you are very cautious require a spotter for questionable obsticals, this approach could be frustrating. You are completely welcome and you'll definately get to witness at least 1 rig running little sleuce.

There is a proposed October multi-day run which will be a casual pace if you are interested as well.

I have my passenger seat reserved or I'd invite you ride along as an alternative.

That sounds right up my alley I'm not looking for a beginner run. That would bore me... I am an avid wheeler and love to go out an hit the rough stuff and especially hitting it fast. I am just not sure how it will work for us because we have no where to stay that night unless we camp cause I will not want to run that trail then drive to Corvallis Oregon (10hrs away) that night. I can keep up with the speed I would just be worried about "questionable" obstacles as I am winchless until my return trip back from Seattle.

I would love to try little sluice as well
