Default Have a large wire crimper and wanna help a guy out?

I'm trying to hook up my winch and just picked up some welding cable, terminals, heat shrink, etc. What I don't have is a crimper that will work on 2 AWG cable. I could go buy one, but spending $60+ on something I will use for 2 minutes isn't really in the cards right now.

Anyone in the Renton-ish area have one that I could use? There could be a 6-pack of your favorite beverage in it for you.

I got some but I'm a little farther then reasonable, I'd try calling your local shucks orielly they have a great tool rental policy. Most items they rent, you put a deposit down that you get back when you return them making the rental free, I did that with their coil spring compressors before. Good luck

Yeah, I've done that before with a spring compressor, but I didn't figure they'd have this sort of thing. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Why not use solder? Easy to do in the field, makes a continuous connection, plenty strong. Easy to practice the skill - just buy a few cheap 1/2" copper pipe fittings and a couple feet of pipe and sweat solder them together. Same technique as sweat soldering big lugs onto cable. If you've never soldered, there hasta be a youtube video out there.

You need a propane torch, a roll of old-fashioned lead/tin solder, some soldering paste, and some 100 grit Emory cloth. Use a strong solvent to clean any excess paste off when finished. It contains some acid. I've never had it cause a problem but still like to clean it up.

If you have a heat gun, some heat shrink over the connection makes a nice job. Tape works also. (This applies with soldered or crimped lugs.)

I ended up just picking up some crimpers, but I appreciate the offers and the advice!

Side note, the hydraulic crimp tool sold at Harbor Freight is pretty damn nice.
