Default Lightning & fires, Washington

My wife and I were out driving the Jeep around Wenatchee when a storm front blew through this past weekend and I got a few photos of the lightning. Now of course, we're dealing with the fires caused by that lightning. Pretty close to town.

Typical late-summer cycle. Thunderstorm followed by fire.

Wow! Awesome photos! Impressive how something so beautiful can be so destructive.

Amazing photos! I wonder if that's the same system we saw and which dumped some good rain on us out at Naches late Saturday night?

Yes, it is...the storm cells spawned at naches and moved north towards republic, lighting off about 110 wildfires along the way

Watched it cruise through in the hills outside of Northport. Plenty of flashes and rumblers. No fires nearby, but lots of smoke.

yeah, they showed Liberty in the news last night. They said an evacuationg was called but that some of the residents have decided to stay back to protect their home. I hope they'll be alright. I was in E-burg on Saturday and the whole hillside to the north was complete smoke. it was night on the way home, and there was enough fire to create a red glow over the hills. next time we run the Liberty trails I suspect it is going to look very different.

Default Lion Rock

I see the area around Lion Rock to the end of the Neely Creek trail has burned.
