May 16th run
I have one of the small Midland units that I think was only around $89 and with my 4' Firestick and TF mount (the cheap spare mount)....was all well under $150. I put a cig lighter plug on the power and mounted it with a standard U bracket on the single screw by the drivers right thigh. I can put it in and take it out in a couple of minutes and it worked pretty good on the VF run. It is temporary, but that is the way I want it. CB just goes in my "goody bag" with my tow strap and compressor, and a bungy cord holds the fire stick to my roll bar. When I need them, I can be ready in less than 5 minutes during the airdown process.
thanks you guys. Jeff, I like your quick/removable system idea too. Do you have pics of the gear & set-up? if not, no biggie...
ive seen the cobra75 and i like the cooltech license plate mount kit.... hmmm... $150 fun-money

Off topic, I'll chime in too. I installed a Uniden 510 which is the gold standard for a cheap loggers radio. You can pick these radios up for under $50 and they'll out perform a lot of more expensive units in the woods, I swear by these units.
Here's the way I patterned my install when I had my 4dr after this write up.

By the way, just to partially un-hijack this thread, I still plan on meeting up with you folks and going on this run Saturday.

ya the 2 new trails are real bad to get up. but people do not have to go up them if they dont want to. there are some great places to watch others try.

am ready to go
i can meet some people at safeway around 8:30 am and show them the way to camp spillman.
