Default OREGON JK owners trip plan

07JKFan and I are starting to plan a trip to the fort rock area. We are just at the beginning stages. Let me know if you ar intrrested. The Godfather and JKFirefightr have responded alrady. We ar shooting for the middle or end of June. PM me if you want to go. This will be a dry camp (meaning waterless) in the middle of no where. No tables, no benches, no showers, and no restrooms. You can get a trailer into it but it's a little ruff in spots, but not horrible. I won't be afraid to take a large travel trailer into it, if you choose to. ( My wife and I are tent campers. ) PS. Make sure you unblock your PM so you can recieve emails from us and each other.

No showers??? I'll be smelly and sleeping in a tent by the end of the trip! At least you'll know me by smell!

BTW, eightball... posted a list of basic items in the other OR thread, but since this will be the high desert... I like to carry 5-10 gal. of water, shovel & axe... call me paranoid...

Default permits

Would any experienced Oregon drivers know what type of permits are required and where/how to get them ( if any )? Or how necessary it is?

You'll need a national forest permit. It is my understanding that you can get one for the forest near you and it is good for the hole state. I get mine at G.I.Joes. I think Bi mart sell them too. You can go to any forest service office and get them as well.

An OR state OHV permit is required in State forests as well... Also available from G.I. Joe's for 'bout $10 and good for 2 years.

Man by the time you pay for all the permits, you can't pay for the gas it takes to go wheeling.

Yeah, they love revenuin' in these parts! Don't get me started on a taxation rant... it won't be pretty!

Pretty soon, you'll need a permit to buy a permit!
