A reminder to all of those who are going to come on the 29th. You need to have an OHV permit for your vehicle.

More info can be found here:
http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/ATV/Permits.shtml

Here is a list of permit vendors:
http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/ATV/permit_vendors.shtml

If you don't get one before the trip you can purchase one at the Gale's Creek Gas station....

Also, does it cost more for people from WA? I'll probably just take a short trip into Portland to go pick one up before we get to the trails.

Also, it looks like I will need a 2 lb fire extinguisher. Anything else? I also have an emergency kit bag that you buy prepackaged with a space blanket, water, and stuff. I don't have much else that isn't locked up in storage in Colorado....

Nope same price. Make sure you have your VIN/Registration with you.

The fire extinguisher is like tinted windows. I have never seen anybody get cited for it straight up. You usually have to be doing something else bad and they will tack it on. But an extinguisher is always a good thing to have.

So... Just show them what you would show a cop if you get pulled over?

For the permit? You just need your Jeeps VIN. Just take in your registration, unless you have it memorized.

They give you a sticker to place on your rig. On the back bumper or tailgate. It's not a judicial thing, it's a Park ranger thing. The patrol the Forest and would ping you for not having the sticker. It's one of the ways ODF keeps the funds coming for the lands upkeep.
