Default Portland area help...ASAP

Hey guys. I'm heading up there to buy a Rubi this weekend and need to know if there are any good offroad stores around Hillsboro that would be open on Saturday. I would like to take it somewhere during the test ride and have them check it out. The only one I saw listed here was only open M-F. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, former Siskiyou county resident here. I am guessing you already checked
www.leonardsoffroad.com
Never had to take anything into a mechanic around here so not sure who else to recommend. I did find this...

Truck Diesel & Off Road
3510 B Southwest 209th Ave, Aloha, OR 97007
(503) 649-4122

Is this your next Jeep?

Hey Tyner, Thanks for the help. How did you guess on the Rubi? It looks pretty nice. I've got a deposit holding it. Do you know anything about that dealership? Seems ok so far. It's a cash deal so it shouldn't be too much hassle.

Where did you live in Siskiyou Co? When?

I have been rubbernecking that Jeep for a couple weeks because it is nice and you don't see very many equipped Rubicons for sale. I can't say anything about the dealership, other than, they are probably as good as the salesman you work with.

I grew up in Tulelake, graduated in '96' and still have all my family and wife's family there. Probably will try moving back to Jefferson State in 2-3 years, allergies and weather are making me appreciate home.

Next time you're down this way...give me a heads up. We can meet and show off our toys and maybe go for a quick wheelin' trip. One of the nice things about the town...you can be pretty serious wheelin in about 5 minutes.

Yep...just got back in town a few minutes before dark...just in time to go wheelin' for about an hour with my son. AWESOME rig. I'm very impressed. A major step up from my CJ7 and the other TJ's I've owned.

Hey Tyner, did you ever see this Rubi in person? I'm trying to figure out what kind of lift it has. The dealer says "it's a factory lift". They said it was an option from the factory and it's a Rubicon Express lift. I've never heard that there was an option from the factory....especially this high. It appears to be at least a 4 inch since it runs 35's and doesn't rub that bad when wheeling.

Just wondering if you looked at it. I'm gonna have to put it on a rack and check it out underneath. I don't think there is any labels or decals on the springs or anything though. Since they're a Ford dealer I don't think they know much about Jeeps.

Never looked at it except for driving by. It was nice of them to move it into the shade on the day you came, it was finally hot yesterday.

I have heard that the factory won't void warranty on 2" lifts, so I would guess they may offer a lift from the dealership. Of course this might just be rumor. If you see adapters for stock shocks I would say it is not a factory installation because the shocks aren't long enough to handle that size lift and can be damaged with enough flex.
To see what brand lift I would look at the shocks and see if they are aftermarket or stock. Check Rubicon Express to see what their shocks look like.
Also check if there is a spacer on top of your spring, that would answer your lift height question. I run a Rough Country 2.5 and I have seen some people on this site putting 35s with that lift and have minimal rub.

That is a nice Jeep, a nice setup, and nice purchase. I would like to get a bumper and winch some day but this is technically the wife's so I can't go crazy with it, yet. In the mean time I did buy a new winch because she wouldn't want a hi-lift mounted on it. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...Itemnumber=543

Should work for now, until the time comes when it doesn't.

Default 'factory lift"

Hey daraidz,

I know that there was talk of Mopar hooking up with RE and selling their lift through Mopar. I believe that is what the dealer might have been talking about by referring to it as a "factory" lift. I am not sure if they ever addressed the warranty issue, but if it is sold through a Mopar catalog I would hope they'd stand behind it. (Besides R.E. makes good stuff.) If what you have is a Rubicon Express lift, I'd be willing to bet that is what the situation is. It was probably installed by the dealer the Jeep was originally sold at. Could be NW Jeep, they have a few modified JK's on their lot.

Either way I think you got a good Jeep.
